Waka Waka

With just a week away from the World Cup, it comes as no surprise that I have caught World Cup fever. The symptoms include waking up at strange hours to prepare myself for games, watching exhibition soccer matches, and following soccer news constantly about players' fitness. Yes, I've caught the fever, and it's coming on strong.

I thought I would share the official song of the World Cup today, "Waka Waka" by Shakira. I just love the rhythm in this song, the strong beats and the fast pace. Listening to this song creates just vivid images of past world cups, and continues to stir my excitement for the month that lies ahead. Every four years we get a chance to watch the best soccer players in the world show off their talents, and it never ceases to amaze me.

Two world cups ago, when games were being played in South Korea & Japan, I would watch the late game at 11:30 PM, go to bed, skip the 2nd game, and wake up for the 3rd. Four years ago, I would wakeup at 4:30 AM, to watch the games live in Germany. Now, I have been getting up around 6:30 AM, preparing myself for the greatness that is the World Cup.

Can you tell I'm excited?
